Butterfly Plant Gardening 2014

Kids Ecology Corps – Butterfly Plant Gardening

SATURDAY, JANUARY 11, 2014   9:00 AM-12:00 PM

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2014   9:00 AM-12:00 PM

The Kids Ecology Corps Butterfly Plant Gardening project is designed for youth volunteers, ages 12-15, accompanied by an adult.  When you sign up, you will be asked for the names and ages of minors, so we can make sure every child is accompanied by an adult.

Volunteers will take a guided nature walk through Snyder Park on the way to the Nursery.  While at the Nursery, you will learn about butterflies and the plants they love and prepare cuttings of a butterfly-attracting plant — one to take home and the rest for us to grow in the Nursery.

Weather permitting, activities will take place outdoors (and move indoors if there is rain).  It is best to wear long pants, socks and shoes, and a long-sleeved shirt.  Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended.  Water will be provided.  A donation of unused gardening gloves of any size to support the project at Snyder Park would be wonderful!
