Air Potatoes are taking over the trees and shrubs at Snyder Park and The Kids Ecology Corps needs your help to remove them!
Air Potatoes and other invasive plants need to be removed because they are not allowing native plants the space and light they need to grow. Once these plants are gone, the park will be a better place for native trees and plants to flourish, and migrating birds, butterflies and other wildlife to thrive.
This project will include a nature walk to explain the importance of native plants to the South Florida habitat. Once the project is complete, you can stay to visit the Butterfly Garden or the Disc Golf course at the park.
Due to the outdoor activity, it is recommended all volunteers wear a hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent, plus bring their own water and snack. Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes and long pants are highly recommended. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own work/garden gloves if they don’t want to use a used pair.
